--RANGE AND DEPTH OF LEGAL EXPERIENCE: I have over 20 years of legal experience, including with various types of ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution), in a broad range of real estate, business/commercial, employment, civil rights, and constitutional disputes, primarily from the point of view of a litigator, but also from a "neutral" point of view. I have represented clients large and small, plaintiffs and defendants, so I understand people come to disputes from different points of view.
--GENERAL MEDIATION: The depth and range of my legal experience affords the opportunity to mediate a broad range of types of disputes, from real estate to business to employment matters.
--HOA MEDIATION: In particular, I have over a decade of experience with HOAs, or homeowner’s associations, running across the gamut of all sorts of disputes. This extensive HOA experience has perfectly situated me to mediate HOA disputes. I have dealt first hand with the kinds of complicated interpersonal and "political" interrelationships that often underlie, and drive, disputes in HOAs. This, combined with the desire, or need, for neighbors in an HOA to peacefully co-exist, form the "raw material" for resolving an HOA dispute. I can provide the needed catalyst through mediation. I can use my experience to help the parties understand how a mediated resolution can provide a tremendous savings to all involved -- beyond just the costs of litigation, to peoples’ time, lives, and emotional well being.
--MEDIATOR AS MIDWIFE: I believe being a mediator is like being a "midwife" -- I don’t create the ultimate resolution, but I can help the parties to find their way to crafting a resolution they own. By focusing beyond just the parties' positions, to their underlying interests, I can help them discover there is a "bigger pie" available to use in resolving their dispute(s). In HOA disputes, I have an appreciation both for the individuals involved and for the "bigger picture" context of how HOA's work.
--LOCATIONS: I am based in the Central Valley, but with reasonable advance notice I can travel to mediate disputes state wide.
